Should we repair it all at once and sealcoat it every few years?
2021
The board is looking into the feasibility of repairing the entire road at once in 2022 and then sealcoating it every few years. Estimates are being refined and financing options are being explored. Nothing will be done without property owners' input, sufficient support and board approval. A recent presentation with notes is available upon request.
2020 Repaving is complete
Fall, 2020
You may have noticed that sections of the roads were resurfaced again. This has been the approach for the last few years. Schoolcraft Paving did the work again this year.
Strip between Seth Hill and Cooper
August 2019
There is a section between Seth Jones Road and Cooper Avenue that is currently not paved and has large pot holes that collect water. It's been that way for about 100 years but it may be time to pave it. Gary Day was kind enough to use his tractor and grade it, but it didn't last once it rained and folks drove through it. The board is looking into either adding gravel or having it paved.
Snow Plowing
Winter 2020 / 2021
Our roads are private and therefore not plowed by the county. There are 15 year-round residents throughout Oakwood and many others who enjoy visiting during the winter. Oakwood Improvement Association contracts with a third party to keep the roads clear when significant snowfall occurs.
